I won't lie - I only bought this book because it was pink. And that's the truth.

Thankfully my favourite colour has never let me down and this poetry collection was no different.

Araluen's poetry style is eclectic and yet encaptivating. Her strong persona voice comes through in her words and leaves my mind reeling after each page. While her poetry continuously picks up and analyses the complex parts of the colonial state of Australia, Araluen ultimately leads towards a hopeful decolonial future.

Each poem will leave your mind reeling - I will tell you that. Every single poem brings something new to the page. While some emotional, others analytical and the rest will seem to leave its place marked on your skull. It's no wonder the collection won 5 awards within its year of publication.

My recommendation is to come into reading the collection with an open mind and spirit. Let the words wash over you and allow yourself to be taken through Araluen's perspective. It is a journey worth taking.
